During my counselling experience, I have supported clients of different ages and cultural backgrounds ranging from 16-60 who have struggled to overcome problems in their lives which have affected their wellbeing. I have had the privilege to be part of the powerful changes talking therapies can bring for people, this is acknowledged in testimonials received from my clients throughout their counselling journey. I TRULY believe in the power of talking therapy and the changes it can bring when we are free to be our true selves.
I am an integrative therapist which means that I can use a variety of counselling styles to best meet your needs including Person Centred, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Psychodynamic alongside Mindfulness and other therapies dependent upon your needs and preferred style. I have counselled people experiencing various issues stopping them from moving on relating to stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship breakdown, suicide and self-harm.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a member, I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework which sets the standard for good and ethical therapeutic practice. I have counselled in Colleges, Drop-in Centres, Cancer Support Centres and in my Private practice.
I offer a free introductory session lasting 30 minutes. This can be conducted either face to face or on the telephone. This consultation is a good chance to discuss what you want from counselling and provides a good opportunity to ask any questions. Following this session, if we decide to work together the approach will be tailored to suit your needs and personal circumstances. I offer open-ended therapy which means you decide on the length of sessions based on your needs.
"I did not know what to expect from counselling, I just knew I had to do something. The sessions helped me realise and understand why I was feeling the way I was which in turn helped me face my demons and move on".
"I particularly liked the different styles or theories Pam brought to the sessions, at first I thought how can this help me! Was I surprised, with what come from the session in particular when we used objects to prompt the conversation".
"I was extremely anxious and unable to cope with my husband’s current diagnosis of cancer, I was all over the place. I remember the first session vaguely I fell into the room and spent the whole of the time talking hearing myself say things that I did not realise were there, Pam gave me the space and time for me. As time went on we used breathing exercises and lots of reflection and I started to make time for me outside the counselling sessions. I still struggle with the potential problems my family will face with my husband’s illness, however I have come to deal with it, and due to self-care techniques and mindfulness alongside the counselling sessions feel stronger".
